getting started
Color Me Green provides services to individuals starting as early as age 4, based on developmental readiness and maturity. We work with children, teens, adults, and families. Kavina also provides clinical supervision, consultation, and professional speaking for clinicians and organizations.
Both. I offer a flexible hybrid for individuals 12+ (although hybrid is assessed on what’s most effective). You can meet in-person at the Frisco office (5300 Town and Country Blvd., Suite 240) and/or virtually via secure telehealth anywhere in Texas. Play therapy for younger children works best in-person, where the playroom does its magic.
The first appointment is a chance to understand your child and your family’s story from the caregiver’s perspective. From there, your child will typically have individual sessions where they can build trust, explore what they’re experiencing, and develop skills in a supportive environment.
After every six individual sessions, we’ll have a caregiver session to check in, provide support, and talk about your child’s progress and ways to support them at home. Depending on your family’s needs, caregiver sessions may happen sooner or more often.
At times, others who are important to your child’s life may also be included in sessions when it would be helpful to their treatment. This may include a parent, both parents, a sibling, or the whole family.
There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline for therapy with Color Me Green. Some concerns may improve in a few months, while others take more time and support. Your child’s needs, goals, readiness, and what’s happening in your family or their world all play a role.
We’ll check in regularly about progress and treatment goals to ensure therapy continues to meet your family’s needs.

We do not currently offer weekend sessions. Evening appointments are available, with our latest appointment time beginning at 7PM. Evening sessions tend to fill quickly.
Yes. For students who attend therapy during school hours, we provide school notes documenting their appointment. These notes count as an excused absence according to schools’ attendance policies.
about the therapies
Play is a child’s natural language. In play therapy, a trained therapist uses toys, expressive arts, sand tray, games, and stories so children can express feelings that are still too big for words — and practice coping, boundaries, and problem-solving in a safe, non-judgmental space.

Family systems therapy treats the family as one connected system rather than a collection of individuals. We work on the patterns between people — communication loops, roles, and boundaries — so change is shared and lasting. Learn more on the Therapy for Families page.
CBT is a practical, evidence-based approach that helps kids and teens notice the link between thoughts, feelings, and actions — and gives them concrete tools to challenge unhelpful thinking and try new responses. Elements of CBT are woven into work with children, teens, and families here.
Yes — caregivers are essential partners. Expect regular check-ins that translate session progress into everyday life, while still protecting the trust your child or teen builds in their own space.
